Raul Aldana

RAUL ALDANA

Raul started his career at the age of six, acting in a film, theatre and later, TV. When he was 14,
while filming a movie and working in a TV series, he discovers the world of dubbing and voice
over acting and starts combining them with the rest of his acting activities.
Building on this experience for a further 20 years, Raul became the Spanish voice of Mickey
Mouse, Kermit The Frog, Lion King’s Timon and many other significant pop culture characters.
During this time, he expands his career as a writer and main cast member on a project that
would become the most successful TV comedy in Mexico – as well as further work across TV,
radio, and musical productions.
It was the combination of all his talents that motivates Disney to invite Raul to lead and manage
‘Character Voices and Content Localization’ in Latin America.
From 1997 to 2018, he was the regional creative director managing all the dubbing and
localization process of more than 3,500 titles, per year, in Spanish and the same amount in
Portuguese. This role involved establishing the highest quality standards, especially in theatrical
features in which he collaborated with star talents and celebrities – these included Phil Collins,
Sting, Gloria Estefan, Viggo Mortensen, Vin Diesel, Emerson Fittipaldi and the most well-known
Latin American stars like Chayanne, Shakira, Marco Antonio Solis and more.
During this time, Raul managed the operations of the area; producing, directing, writing and
adapting scripts and lyrics. This also involved creating and developing localization strategies to
support the needs of marketing, programming and film operations – and positioning Latin
America as one of the first day and date international territories; delivering each project at the
lowest possible cost, in the shortest completion time with best quality.
During his last three years with Disney, along with his daily managerial duties, Raul collaborated
closely with Pixar in the localization strategies of the award winner animated film “Coco”, also
writing the lyrics of the songs in Spanish, providing advice for cultural matters and, for the
Mexican version, he brought on board and recorded more than 30 celebrities, helping the film
to become the most successful theatrical release in the history of the industry in Mexico.
Since March 2018, Raul has shared his knowledge and experience with ZOO Digital, a
localization service provider, helping to develop and fine tune a cloud-based dubbing platform
that marks the future of the dubbing and localization industry. Also, during the summer of
2018, he wrote the lyrics in Spanish of the Warner Bothers’ movie “Small Foot”. He also spends
part of his time providing consulting services to recording studios and dubbing companies, gives
workshops and acting coaching and industry-related conferences, as well as continuing his
career as a commercial voice talent, actor and director. In 2020, he wrote the lyrics in Spanish
for the film based on the Lin Manuel Miranda’s musical “In the Heights”. In the summer of
2021, he wrote the lyrics in Spanish of Universal’s “Dear Evan Hansen”. In 2022 wrote the lyrics
of the songs of Warner Bros’ DC League of Super Pets, Sony Pictures’ Lyle Lyle Crocodile and in
2023 Illumination/Universal Super Mario Bros Movie
