With over 30 years of experience in producing film and television production. My career started in 1989 in New York. I returned to South Africa permanently in 2000. In 2002, I was appointed the CEO of the Gauteng Film Commission and brokered the investment in the Oscar-nominated film “Hotel Rwanda. Facilitated the South African investment into CNBC Africa and established bilateral relationships with the Brazilian Film Industry in 2004.
By 2005, I had facilitated over $155 Million in film investment into the province of Gauteng. In 2008, I was hired as a location consultant for Neil Blokamp’s Sci fiction Thriller “District 9”, produced by Peter Jackson(“Lord of The Rings trilogy “, King Kong).
Through my production companies, White Heron Pictures and Ziya Pictures , I have created content and formats that can be licensed for local and international markets. This includes the 2013 highly rated television mini-series Vuka Mawulele for MNET, Africa’s largest pay cable channel. In 2016, I wrote and co-produced my second Television Mini-series The Alliance, which was licensed to Etv South Africa. The Crime thriller received 26% market share on Prime Time Slot . In 2020, I was retained to consult for Cape Town based Okuhle Media (www.okuhle.co.za )to review and advise on their Scripted Content Strategy. I have over 90 production credits in music videos, sports inserts, award winning documentaries, feature films and television content. I am analytical, strong communicator, a self starter and an advocate for mentoring and empowering youth, which I have done for the past 18 years through various training program both in the US and South Africa. That is to me the most rewarding act; to empower and give back.
My primary goal is to build a sustainable legacy based on innovation, enterprise and empowerment.
