Great Things Start in Little Rooms

André 3000 and Big Boi during their 2025 induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

By Tre Mosley, 11/30/2025

I’ll never be in anyone’s Hall of Fame. My high school has one, but I think you have to be ‘popular.’ My career started in a little room, a closet full of clothes. I’ve worked in a few closets, actually. Being in a little room can inspire a breakthrough or bring you to the point of insanity. If you’re a creative, you’ll understand.

“Something about little rooms. Little rooms.
Great things
start in little rooms. That’s it.”
-André 3000

Sixteen years later, I would have never imagined that from that little room I’d have the opportunity to share my talent with the world. As someone from the South, seeing OutKast, a SOUTHERN Hip Hop group, inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame touched me in many ways.

People from the South are often viewed as a little slower, less educated, or low class. When Andre said “The South’s got something to say.” 30 years ago at the Source Awards, I felt that revelation then too. Relaxing outside my home one morning I had some time to myself to reflect on his words. I looked at my surroundings.

Sitting in that little room has afforded me a good life. Sitting in that little room, I had a lot of doubt, but I also had a lot of excitement and curiosity. I’ve sat in little rooms that have brought me to tears, little rooms in which I questioned my own existence. Each time I emerged from those little rooms, I found I understood more and more about myself.

As voice actors most of us are still confined to little rooms, and some of those rooms are STILL in closets.

In those little rooms we create experiences for people around the world.
We educate them.
We entertain them.
We sell them.
We move them.
We tell them stories.
We become their favorite character in a game, or a cartoon, or an audiobook.

Andre was 100% correct.

“Great things start in little rooms.” ♦︎♦︎♦︎
